Antoine Petitprez
– Bourgogne, France
Auxey-Duresses, within the Bourgogne, is the home to winemaker Antoine Petitprez. In his previous life Petitprez was a sustainable farming teacher, guiding renowned Burgundy vignerons toward organic farming. In return for his expertise, he gained access to select vineyard parcels from these winemakers.
While primarily a négociant, Antoine now owns two vineyards. His commitment to sustainable agriculture centers on respecting soil life and plant cycles. Red wines experience maceration for 12 to 16 days, aging in old oak barrels for 10 to 20 months, with new barrels sparingly used.
Some of his wines bear the Bourgogne Rouge classification but possess complexity rivaling premier cru offerings.
Antoine Petitprez’s Pommard 2019 is a great choice for the festive season. Its notes of dark blackberries, spiciness, invigorating acidity, and enduring finish make it ideal for traditional game dishes. It also pairs beautifully with unconventional fare, such as turbot with red wine sauce or beet bourguignon, enhancing your holiday celebrations.
Antoine is a charismatic character. Meet him on November 18th yourself!
