Azienda Agricola Bertolino is a family-owned winery run by two brothers – Salvatore and Gabriele – in western Sicily. The farm spans 3 hectares between Marsala and Mazara del Vallo, with vineyards that vary in variety, soil, and microclimate, each adding its own unique character to the wines.
Despite the challenges faced by a region once renowned for Marsala wine production, but now progressively abandoned, the Bertolino brothers remain committed to preserving its viticultural heritage.
The winery produces four distinct wines. Nicuzza is a lively and fresh white wine with citrus notes, crafted from grapes grown in Mazara del Vallo, vinified in steel with a short maceration on the skins and natural fermentation.
Fuitina is a refined white wine made entirely from Catarratto, featuring a fuller body and aromatic complexity developed through extended maceration and aging on the fine lees.
Majara is a light and expressive red wine made from the Parpato grape, showcasing vibrant fruit with a delicate touch of spice. The wine is crafted through a unique five-day maceration process in steel, using a combination of 1/3 whole bunch, 1/3 whole berry, and 1/3 traditional red vinification on the skins. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts further enhances its complexity and character.
Majara 2.0 is a light and fresh red wine made from Sangiovese grape, characterized by a fruity nose and a nice acidity. The grapes are harvested at the end of august, destemmed and in contact with the skins for 4 days. Spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeast, aging in steel tank for 7-8 months.
