Bushgirl
– Langenberg mountains, South Africa
Nestled on the slopes of the Langenberg Mountains in South Africa, Bushgirl stands out as one of the few low-intervention winemakers in the region.
While natural winemaking in South Africa has gained global attention, it remains a niche practice. Their vineyards rise up the foothills of the surrounding mountain ranges, deriving their character from calcareous alkaline and shale soils with good water retention.
For a closer look, you are welcome to visit the estate, where five country-style, self-catering cottages invite guests to enjoy panoramic views and tranquil nights beneath the vast African sky. However, you can also easily taste their wines at this year’s event, where Bushgirl is participating for the first time.
All Bushgirl wines are unfiltered petnats, with zero additions. The labels on their wines are designed by Norwegian artist Nikolai Torgersen, aka @emogutt.
