Dussart Pedrón
– Utiel-Requena, Spain
Dussart Pedron produces limited yields from old vines, some over 70 years old, in the highlands of Requena at an altitude of 700 meters.
Founded by Silvia Dussart-Pedrón and her husband, this family-run vineyard honors a heritage that spans centuries. In 2017, the couple left their careers as a math teacher and an engineer to revive Silvia’s family’s early 20th-century cellar, originally built by her great-grandfather. Collaborating with the architectural company CRUX, they reimagined the space, preserving its historical essence while incorporating state-of-the-art technology. The highlight is a central lift for gravity-fed racking, allowing gentle handling of the wines without pumping.
Focused on native varieties like Bobal, Grenache, and Tempranillo, and employing both amphora and oak barrels, their wines express the depth of the region’s clay-limestone terroir.
Le Bobal’s signature red, crafted in amphora, showcases rich fruit with earthy, mineral notes. For white wine enthusiasts, Le Bobal offers a distinctive Vermentino, aged for six months in French oak, with hints of orchard fruit and a smooth, rounded finish.
