De Duintuin
Organic fruits and vegetables with a social component
At De Duintuin you will find a variety of unsprayed vegetables, herbs and small fruits according to biodynamic principles. The emphasis is on nurturing “natural growth,” paying special attention to soil fertility and a diversity of crops. Farmer André Nelis created De Duintuin in the middle of the Heemskerk dune area as a so-called “care garden”. It operates as a social enterprise that grows its products with the commitment of like-minded people who want to progress to full(er) participation in society.
The Dune Garden supplements its own assortment with carefully selected products from fellow organic and sustainable gardeners in the region ensuring a diverse and top-quality assortment. André’s wife crafts sauerkraut in a traditional way regarded by many as the best in the Netherlands. Several chefs use this sauerkraut in their menus.
André proudly brings his sauerkraut and his vegetables to the Green is Golden market.
