Sekthaus Krack
– Pfalz, Germany
Anna and Christian Krack have been running their small, but renowned Sekthaus in Deidesheim, a small town situated on the outskirts of Mannheim, a one-and-a-half-hour drive south of Frankfurt, since 2015.
Krack has been garnering national and international praise for their much sought-after sparkling wines – and even won the prestigious Meiningers Deutscher Sektpreis in 2021. Together with their family, they have set themselves the goal of bringing high-quality, méthode traditional Sekt the attention and recognition it so deserves.
Deidesheim is protected by the ancient Palatine Forest. This helps the area to withstand rapid weather fluctuations, from heavy rain to intense sun year-round. They cultivate their vineyards – planted with Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier, Pinot Blanc, and Riesling – by hand, with great attention to detail and, above all, with respect for nature, working their 5 hectares organically since the beginning, while keeping sulfite use and intervention in the vineyards and cellar to a bare minimum.
Little to no dosage (sugar) or sulfites are added, emphasizing terroir. The results speak for themselves: delicate, pure, low-alcohol sparkling wines with subtle yeast and vibrant fruit flavor.
Anna and Christian look forward to sharing -amongst others- their top wine, Freundeskreis Grande Cuvée, at the Natural Wine Festival. It is dedicated to the friends and family who helped them through their winery’s early years.
