1701 Franciacorta
– Italy
1701 Franciacorta is rooted in the ancient walls of the Brolo vineyard, dating back to the 11th century, and reborn through a modern biodynamic lens.
Acquired in 2011 from the Conti Bettoni Cazzago family, the estate has been shaped by a clear vision: to make wines that are authentic, expressive, and true to the land. Working under Demeter certification, 1701 farms its 13 hectares biodynamically, with deep respect for soil health and biodiversity. No synthetic fertilizers, no pesticides, no additives.
Fermentations are spontaneous with native yeasts, and each parcel is vinified separately. The wines are left unfiltered, unfined, and unsweetened — no liqueur d’expédition at disgorgement — allowing the vineyard’s energy to define every bottle. The cellar blends tradition and experimentation: concrete tanks, amphorae, wood, and stainless steel each play their role in shaping texture and depth. The result is a Franciacorta style that is vibrant, pure, and honest, wines born from living soils, guided by time rather than technology, and rooted in a legacy that looks forward.
