Holass was born out of the passion of Ellie Bauwens and Imre Halász for low intervention wines with a strong identity of their origin.
Holass is a virtual winery. This means that they have no cellar or vineyards, instead their production is based on close collaborations with winemakers they are friends with. Rather than managing a single vineyard, they buy grapes from small vineyards–perhaps just a single parcel–around Hungary and Burgenland, Austria. The wines are labeled according to their region of origin and embody the terroir of each vineyard.
During this workshop “Terroir and Culture“, Imre will teach you a more cultural approach to terroir. While we always want to know how wine is made and according to which techniques, Imre will show you that it is equally important to know more about its region, its history, and why certain regions produce certain types of wine only.
In this workshop you will go further and discover the strong and fascinating relationship between wine-making and culture, focusing on Hungarian wine culture and stories.
